We always love to see others enjoying our rugs in their home which is why we reached out to Jackie Anderson of Sawdust Angel Wood Boutique. We saw that she had multiple of our rugs in her home and absolutely loved how she styled every one of them. Jackie discovered us through Erin Kern of Cotton Stem Interiors, one of our first Well Woven Creator features! Now she has grown her collection to 3 Well Woven rugs and counting. To learn more about how she styles her rugs, we asked her to share all about herself, her business, and her home.
What are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by people who decorate their homes with what they love, even if it isn’t popular or doesn’t fit into a typical style. Those homes are always the most beautiful and comfortable. I love seeing unexpected elements in a home, and it’s always the meaningful, personal details that bring a space together. Pieces that are handcrafted or vintage bring a special meaning to a home and really define my home’s style.
How did you choose the name Sawdust Angel Wood Boutique?
My husband actually came up with the Sawdust Angel part, which is very accurate! I produce enough sawdust to make several sawdust angels on a daily basis. Our garage is always covered in sawdust, no matter how much I sweep! I chose the Wood Boutique part because I love the juxtaposition of the rustic wood elements with the feminine aspect of a boutique.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Katy, TX, the same place I live now. I never imagined I would live in the same place I grew up, but I love the family atmosphere with the big city convenience since we are so close to Houston.
What’s your favorite color?
I love soft shades of blues and greens. It reminds me of the water and I have always felt my calmest when I am in the water.
What's your favorite piece of furniture in your home right now?
Oh, goodness, this is a tough question. My favorite pieces are typically the pieces I make myself because I literally and figuratively put my blood, sweat, and tears into those pieces. My favorite piece is the 12’ farmhouse table I made because I love to entertain, and we have made so many wonderful memories around that table.
How has your style evolved throughout your life?
My style is CONSTANTLY evolving as I figure out what works for me. I used to make the mistake of only buying products from big stores and copying the latest trends. Now, I’m learning more about what works for me and my family and adjusting my home’s style accordingly. Lately, I’ve been trying to stick to certain palettes and pieces that work throughout my home and tie the spaces together.
How did you hear about Well Woven?
I first heard about Well Woven through a fellow Instagram friend-- Erin @cottonstem. (Check out Erin's spotlight article with us here) She inspires my home decor more than any other person, and I instantly fell in love with her rugs and had to order some for myself! To be completely honest, I was shocked at the quality of my Well Woven rugs. I assumed there was no way the quality could be this good for how low the prices are. I adore my rugs, and they are so soft.
What do you look for when choosing a rug?
I strive to find a balance between price and quality. I believe you shouldn’t have to pay top dollar for good quality. I’m also at a season of life with a 2yo and 3yo (and a husband, let’s be honest) that one of my top priorities is a rug that hides stains easily. I love incorporating vintage pieces into my home so the 3 rugs I have fit perfectly with that antique feel, and the beautiful shades of blues and grays tie in seamlessly with the design of my home, which is another top priority for me.
