2014
Early Days & Founding Team
It takes a village to raise a child—and the same holds for a growing company. In 2014, systems-thinkers Adem Ogunc and Luba Solovyeva laid the first bricks in New York City, designing digital frameworks, supply-chain workflows, and data-driven systems that still power our operations. Soon, a small yet powerful team—operations managers, customer-service champions, logistics experts, and supportive friends—joined to turn that bold vision into a thriving business. Well Woven is the result of countless hands and hearts shaping our journey from the start.
2016
The Parents’ Puzzle: Spark for Custom
Our first “Aha!” came from Adem’s parents in upstate New York. Living in a combined living‑and‑dining condo, they couldn’t find one rug that fit under their table without bleeding into their living area. Watching them juggle two mismatched rugs showed us that “close enough” is never enough—and planted the seed for our custom rugs program.
2019
The Rafael Runner Fix
In 2019, warehouse teammate Rafael saw a stack of returned rugs with frayed edges and asked for a serging machine to fix them. With zero sewing experience, he taught himself to re‑edge and trim those rugs into perfect hallway and staircase runners. That grassroots ingenuity illuminated the power of on‑demand customization and sparked the launch of our custom runner rugs.
2020
From Roots to Custom Core
We started with thoughtfully curated, ready‑made collections. Two truths quickly became clear: our customers deserved better fit, and the traditional rug supply chain was broken--overpriced, inefficient, and slow. So we decided to do it differently, embracing transparency and cutting out unnecessary steps. By 2020, Well Woven invested in state‑of‑the‑art measurement systems and custom-cutting equipment, paired with our Easton, PA workshop’s finishing processes.
